Why Was PUBG Mobile Light Renamed to Flash?
On September 24, 2026, PUBG Mobile announced through its official account that PUBG Mobile Light is being renamed to PUBG Mobile Flash. The developers described it simply as "just a new name," confirming the game itself, its features and its November 2026 launch window are unchanged.
Players who had already pre-registered under the old "Light" name do not need to register again. Their pre-registration carries over automatically to Flash. The Google Play listing, now published under Level Infinite with the tagline "The Original PUBG Mobile, Now in a Flash," was updated around September 22, 2026.
PUBG Mobile has not given an official reason for the rename, though some in the community believe it was to avoid confusion with the older, unrelated "PUBG Mobile Lite" app from 2019.
What Is PUBG Mobile Flash?
PUBG Mobile Flash is a lightweight version of PUBG Mobile, built for players who don't have much storage space on their phone or don't want a large download to eat into their mobile data. Instead of downloading everything upfront, it installs a much smaller package so you can get into a match sooner.
Once installed, there's nothing extra to set up. You're dropped straight into Erangel and can start playing right away, with the rest of the game's maps and modes available to download later, only when you actually want them.
Does It Change the Gameplay?
No. Flash only trims down the initial download. Core gameplay, content updates, account data and matchmaking all stay exactly the same as the main game.
